WISCONSIN DEMOCRACY CAMPAIGN E-LERT

Democrats who control the state Senate announced plans to act in the coming days on three reform bills supported by the Democracy Campaign.

At a Capitol press conference this morning, leading Senate Democrats called for action on Senate Bill 77 requiring full disclosure of campaign ads by special interest groups, an "Impartial Justice" bill providing public financing for state Supreme Court races, and a new "Judicial Right to Know" bill establishing more reporting of possible judicial conflicts of interest.

A public hearing is planned for Tuesday, May 1 on all three bills before the Senate Campaign Finance Reform, Rural Issues and Information Technology Committee. Senate leaders expect the bills to be passed by the committee shortly after the hearing and sent to the full Senate for debate and approval.
