OathSpending

This independent disbursement committee was created in 2012 by a coalition of national labor unions to make independent expenditures in support of recalling Republican Governor Scott Walker, Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and four GOP state senators. The committee spent a little over $4 million in the 2012 recall and fall elections and the 2013 spring elections.  We Are Wisconsin also operates a political action committee created in 2011 to oppose Republican incumbents and challengers in nine state Senate recall elections that year. The 2011 and 2012 recalls occurred because of passage of Walker's 2011 plan to severely curtail public employee collective bargaining rights.

The committee spent over $3 million supporting Democratic candidates in races for governor, attorney general and Senate Districts 9, 17 and 19. All its candidates lost.

Last active election: 2013

This organization is registered with the Government Accountability Board as an independent disbursement committee following the January 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. FEC.
