This political action committee was created to make independent expenditures in support of Republican Governor Scott Walker who faces a June 5 recall election for his successful plan last year to restrict public employee collective bargaining rights. Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and four GOP state senators also face recall elections.
In early May, the PAC spent $245,000 on a 30-second television ad - here via WisPolitics.com - that applauded Walker for balancing the state budget.
The group's interest in helping defeat Democratic candidates extends beyond Wisconsin as it's reportedly working with a conservative Chicago billionaire on an advertising strategy to attack President Barack Obama. The fund's treasurer is Nancy Watkins, a certified public accountant with Robert Watkins and Company in Tampa, Florida. The firm specializes in campaign finance law compliance and says its clients include members of Congress, state and local political parties and PACs and Florida officeholders.
