Senator Kapanke was first elected in 2004. He was unopposed in the primary and faced Democratic opposition in the general election. Building a Better Wisconsin ($17,531), Realtors PAC ($3,397) and Volunteers for Agriculture ($2,294) made independent expenditures favoring Senator Kapanke. America Coming Together Wisconsin ($896), Clean Wisconsin Action Fund ($458), Coulee Region United Educators ($8,325), Human Rights League ($19), Planned Parenthood Action Fund ($327), Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin ($21,899), Southwest Education Association ($1,462), TAA-PAC ($610), WEAC ($273,390), and Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters ($5,000) made independent expenditures in favor of his opponent. All Children Matter, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and Wisconsin Right to Life spent undisclosed amounts on "issue ads" in support of Senator Kapanke. Americans for a Brighter Tomorrow, Greater Wisconsin Committee and Wisconsin Citizen Action spent undisclosed amounts in opposition. |
