Senator Kreitlow was first elected in 2006. He was unopposed in the primary and faced a Republican incumbent in the general election. The Human Rights League ($21), NARAL Pro-Choice WI ($57), Planned Parenthood Action Fund ($14,065) and WI Gun Owners ($1,190) made independent expenditures favoring Senator Kreitlow. All Children Matter WI ($13,391), NRA Political Victory Fund ($2,095), Volunteers for Agriculture ($25,143) and WI Right to Life ($131) made independent expenditures supporting his opponent. AFT-Wisconsin, Building Wisconsin's Future and the Greater Wisconsin Committee spent undisclosed amounts on "issue ads" in support of Senator Kreitlow.
