It’s being suggested that maybe at least part of the solution to what ails our court system might be found in video games. And you’ll be amazed who is doing the suggesting. That’s the subject of our latest Big Money Blog.
Democracy Campaign director Mike McCabe was on Wisconsin Public Television’s Here & Now public affairs program over the weekend talking about the state Supreme Court’s decision in the Annette Ziegler judicial misconduct case. You can watch the interview here.
While one Supreme Court justice was found guilty of violating ethics rules and was disciplined by her colleagues, another’s apparent improprieties are being overlooked. For more on that, check out the Big Money Blog posted last week.
There’s much more that needs to be done to restore public confidence in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court and our entire court system than video games can possibly do. And those who have it in their power to do it - namely the governor and state legislators - are sitting on their hands. The democracy reform scorecard WDC compiled recently makes that perfectly clear.
State lawmakers need to be held accountable for their inaction. Please take action and bring the scorecard to the attention of friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else you can think of in your community.
