American Patriot Recall Coalition
April 21, 2011
This is a Utah-based group created in February 2011 to try to recall six of the 14 Democratic state senators from Wisconsin who left the state in mid-February for a month in an unsuccessful effort to prevent a vote on Republican Governor Scott Walker’s plan to abolish most public employee collective bargaining rights.
The group’s website says its mission is to aid in recall efforts against elected officials at any level who have “exhibited actions that are contrary to his/her oath of office and the will of their constituents,” and that political events in Wisconsin and elsewhere were a “concerted, deliberate and organized attack on our Republic and system of government” by Democrats, labor unions and others.
American Patriot’s executive director, Dan Baltes, also created Americans Against Immigration Amnesty in 2010 claiming illegal immigration was the cause of most of America’s problems. Baltes and his activities were criticized in mid-April 2011 by a conservative Arizona group.
American Patriot sponsored a 60-second radio ad in mid-April criticizing Democratic Senator Julie Lassa of Stevens Point for not going to work in order to avoid voting on Walker’s collective bargaining plan. “No boss would ever put up with such childish behavior and neither should you,” the ad says.
