WEAC Region 3 PAC (known until fall 2014 alternatively as Bay Lakes United Northeast Educators or Bayland) is the political action committee of the Green Bay regional branch of the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC), the state's largest teachers union.
The PAC spent over $2,000 on mailings supporting Appeals Court Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg's failed challenge to incumbent Justice Rebecca Bradley in the April 5 spring election for a 10-year seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Before the 2016 Supeme Court election this PAC had never made independent expenditures in any races followed by the Democracy Campaign, but, since 1993, it had made over $150,000 in campaign contributions to candidates for the legislature and statewide office with $37,750 going to Wisconsin Supreme Court candidates. The PAC contributed $5,000 to incumbent Justice Anne Walsh Bradley's successful reelection campaign in 2015.
WEAC Region 3 PAC was also among numerous teachers union PACs that collectively made more than $57,000 in contributions to Kloppenburg.
WEAC Region 3 PAC's parent organization, the Wisconsin Education Association Council, had spent over $13 million on independent expenditures through its PAC between 1998 and 2015 with over $350,000 on Supreme Court elections.
