Fall: OathSpending

This is a new unregistered independent expenditure committee state political action committee affiliated with a Berkeley, Calif.-based liberal group that supports Democrats for statewide offices around the country.

The committee sponsored online advertising in support of Democratic candidate for governor Tony Evers, who defeated two-term GOP Gov. Scott Walker in the Nov. 6 election.

The group had not been involved in electioneering in Wisconsin since the 2011 recall elections when as a registered independent expenditure committee it spent about $135,000 in two state Senate recall races. The organization was originally formed in 1998 to oppose the impeachment of then-President Bill Clinton.

This organization is an unregistered independent expenditure committee that is required to report any such spending done within 60 days of a primary or an election to the Wisconsin Ethics Commission per Chapter 11, Subchapter X of Wisconsin Statutes.
