Spring: OathSpending

Little is known about this group. It maintains a one page website and lists only an Appleton, Wis. post office box as its address along with an individual named Bruce Barrett as its treasurer in paperwork filed with the state Ethics Commission. The group first made independent expenditures in the Republican primary for the 1st Senate District special election held last year.

The group started mailing flyers in mid-March attacking Appeals Court Judge Lisa Neubauer, candidate in the April 2 Wisconsin Supreme Court election, an officially non-partisan office. The flyers accuse Neubauer of being a Democrat and feature a picture of her flanked by photoshopped images of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. The ad goes on to detail her links to the Democratic Party and accuses her of supporting the "Green New Deal." The flyer concludes by urging the reader to vote against Neubauer. No mention is made of her opponent, fellow Appeals Court Judge Brian Hagedorn. It reported spending about $26,000 on the flyers and another $20,000 on canvassing. Images of the flyer can be seen below. Click on the images to enlarge
