This group is associated with the Wisconsin Realtors Association and sponsors phony issue ads in Wisconsin elections. The statewide realtors group is one of the most influential special interests in the state and generally concentrates its lobbying clout on environmental, tax, construction and other regulations that affect home sales and how realtors do business in Wisconsin.
The realtors group has also been a strong force for decades in state elections through direct contributions by its political action committee. In addition to this phony issue ad group and its PAC, the Wisconsin Realtors Association also runs a corporation that made more than $317,000 in independent expenditures in legislative elections in 2012 and 2013, and a 527 organization that may raise and spend unlimited funds on elections. All of the group's electioneering spending and activities generally support Republican candidates.
The Homeowners Alliance sponsored a 60-second radio ad in February that praised GOP Governor Scott Walker for proposing a $400 million property tax cut and urged listeners to call their legislators and support the plan.
The group sponsored another 60-second radio ad in early September that praised Roger Roth, the Republican candidate for the open 19th Senate District seat in November. The ad urged listeners to vote for Roth because he supported lower taxes.
