This organization was created by the Democratic Governors Assocation (DGA) in February 2014 to support Democrat Mary Burke's challenge to incumbent Republican Governor Scott Walker in the fall 2014 election. During the 2012 recall elections, the DGA directly spent nearly $36,000 through its earlier committee, DGA Action Wisconsin, but transferred another $2.4 million to the Greater Wisconsin Committee to spend in the unsuccessful effort to defeat Walker. The DGA gets most of its money unions and large corporations through a 527 group that can raise unlimited funds.
The group did not support any independent expenditures.
This organization is registered with the Government Accountability Board as an independent disbursement committee following the January 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. FEC.
