This is the phony issue ad arm of the Greater Wisconsin Committee, which is funded by labor unions and ideological groups to support Democratic candidates for local and statewide offices and the legislature. Greater Wisconsin was created in 2004 and also uses a 527 group, a corporation, and a political action committee to sponsor electioneering activities. The four entities spent an estimated $32.8 million between 2006 and 2014 on statewide and legislative elections. Greater Wisconsin is one of the largest outside spenders on Wisconsin statewide and legislative elections and spends most of its cash on negative broadcasts ads attacking Republican and conservative candidates.
The Greater Wisconsin Committee spent an etimated $168,000 supporting incumbent Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley against challenger Rock County Circuit Judge James Daley in the 2015 Supreme Court election.
About a week before the 2015 spring elections, the Greater Wisconsin Committee sponsored a 30-second television ad that accused Daley of imposing a light sentence on an individual convicted of severely beating two children. The ad asks viewers to contact Daley and tell him to protect children, not child abusers.
