This committee is used to make independent expenditures in Wisconsin elections by the American Federation for Children, a Washington D.C.-based group that supports school voucher programs in the state and around the country.
The organization started sponsoring outside electioneering activities during Wisconsin's 2010 general elections. Between 2010 and 2016 the federation doled out an estimated $6.5 million on independent expenditures and phony issue ads combined, mostly to support GOP legislative candidates and Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
Towards the end of July the organization reported spending on online advertising to support the primary campaigns of three Republican candidates running for three different open Assembly seats.
At the end of September it reported spending in three Assembly races to support two Republican incumbents, Todd Novak of the 51st Assembly District and Treig Pronschinske of the 92nd Assembly District, plus a Republican in the open 14th Assembly District, State Treasurer Matt Adamczyk.
In mid-October it reported spending in the race for the open 96th Assembly District seat. By the end of October it expanded its spending to include the 1st and 17th Senate Disticts and a total of eight Assembly districts.
