Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is a labor union which represents health care, home care, nursing home, public service and building service workers in Wisconsin.
Towards the end of July the SEIU reported spending on behalf of Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Mahlon Mitchell in the August primary. In mid-October it first reported spending in oppostion to incumbent Republican Gov. Scott Walker's bid for a third term.
The last time the SEIU made independent expenditures in a state election was 12 years ago through its PAC. By using an unregistered independent expenditure group instead it is not held to the same reporting requirements or funding source restrictions as a PAC.
Last active election: 2006
This organization is an unregistered independent expenditure committee that is required to report any such spending done within 60 days of a primary or an election to the Wisconsin Ethics Commission per Chapter 11, Subchapter X of Wisconsin Statutes.
