Based in Washington, D.C., this is a new committee that was created in early July by the International Association of Fire Fighters to support firefighter Mahlon Mitchell's campaign for the Democratic nomination for governor.
It first reported spending on online advertising on behalf of Mitchell's failed primary bid about four weeks before the Aug. 14 primary. It later expanded its spending to inlcude mailings and television advertisements.
Mitchell was among eight Democratic candidates for governor on the primary ballot. The winner, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Evers, faces Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who is seeking a third, four-year term, in November.
