The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign strongly opposes letting people give campaign contributions in bitcoins.
First, the value of the bitcoin fluctuates greatly, even in the course of a day, so it would be difficult to accurately count the donation, and the donation could quickly exceed the legal limit if the bitcoin inflated rapidly.
And second, and more importantly, there is a big problem of transparency, with the donor being difficult to trace.
We’ve got a big enough problem with corruption already; we don’t need to grease the skids for more corruption, which is what allowing bitcoin donations would do.
