State Watchdog Says Campaign Contributions Can Be Used for Child Care

June 22, 2018

Wisconsin candidates may use campaign contributions to pay for child care when they are campaigning, the Wisconsin Ethics Commission says.

The commission’s opinion on the matter was issued earlier this week at the request of state treasurer candidate Cynthia Kaump.

The state commission’s ruling follows a similar decision last month by the Federal Election Commission that allows candidates for federal offices to use their campaign accounts to pay for child care during campaign travel and events.
