Down is up. Backward is forward. The loss of $810 million in federal funds and thousands of jobs is a victory for the state of Wisconsin. Governor-elect Walker's spin is that everything worked out for the best. The truth is this is a mammoth missed opportunity and a huge economic loss for Wisconsin. Progress was sacrificed on the altar of politics. Walker needed to take an anti-train position to keep flat-earthers among his core political supporters happy. And it's impossible not to have noticed that while Walker was saying the rail funds should be used for road projects, he was busy seeking money from the road builders for his campaign. That plan was working well for him, but now has backfired. He is left with egg all over his face.
