Contact and tell your legislators to expand the franchise rather than making it harder for people to vote. Urge them to repeal Walker’s Voter ID law, which was designed to make it harder for African Americans and students to vote. Urge legislators to expand early voting and retain same-day registration. And urge them to adopt automatic voter registration. Ten states and the District of Colombia already have this: Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. Wisconsin should, too.
The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign is working with its allies in the nonprofit sector – such as the Common Cause in Wisconsin, the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Voices – to ensure that everyone has a Voter ID in the meantime.
We want every citizen to vote, and to be able to do so without hardship or inconvenience.
