Rep. Wirch was first elected to the Assembly in 1992 and to the Senate in 1996. He was unopposed in the primary and faced Republican opposition in the general election. America Coming Together Wisconsin ($896), Human Rights League ($19), Planned Parenthood Action Fund ($327), Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin ($6,888), WEAC ($569,270) and Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters ($9,263) made independent expenditures favoring Senator Wirch. Healthy Wisconsin ($868) and Realtors PAC ($5,093) made independent expenditures in favor of his opponent. Greater Wisconsin Commitee and Wisconsin Citizen Action spent undisclosed amounts on "issue ads" in support of Senator Wirch. All Children Matter, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, Wisconsin Realtors Association, and Wisconsin Right to Life spent undisclosed amounts in opposition. |
