Patriots for Wisconsin is a short lived independent expenditure committee that first registered with the state in May 2022 and terminated with the filing of its first independent expenditure report on October 28, 2022. Despite the group's name, the committee is based in Washington, D.C. and all its funding came from a single source, a corporation called Liberty Group Inc., also based in D.C. A corporation of the same name, but at a different reported Washington, D.C. address, was the recipient of all independent expenditures made by another committee, Wisconsin RINO Hunters.
In late October, the committee reported that it had been involved in the August GOP primary in the 33rd Assembly District, spending nearly $50,000 to support the eventual nominee and winner, Scott Johnson. Johnson faced Democratic Rep. Don Vruwink who then represented the 43rd. Vruwink was moved into a new district when legislative maps were last redrawn.
This organization is registered with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission as an independent expenditure committee following the January 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United v. FEC.
