There is something deeply troubling about attaching a price tag to an election. President Trump is now promising Americans a $5,000 dividend if Republicans maintain control of the House and Senate. He did not mince words when he made this announcement in Dallas last night at the Republican National Committee’s Midterm Convention: “If Republicans win, you win with us, and you get $5,000.”
