Organized in 2019, Blue Sky Waukesha, Inc. is a liberal leaning group based, as it name implies, in Waukesha County. Its president, Kristen Hansen is a Common Cause in Wisconsin board member. It first made independent expenditures in the 2020 Wisconsin State Supreme Court election. This is the first time it has reported spending in a partisan election.
About a week after the November 8 election, the group reported spending over $61,000* for postcards and online advertising to support Democrats for Wisconsin constitutional offices and in the 13th State Assembly District.
*The actual report filed with the Wisconsin State Ethics Commission showed over $1.2 million for independent expenditures in Wisconsin state and federal elections. The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign has determined that the reported total is due to a typo and has adjusted spending accordingly.
