This is a political action committee used to make independent expenditures to support Democratic candidates in Wisconsin elections by the Washington D.C.-based American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Before the 2012 recall elections, the PAC was last active in the 2006 general elections when it spent nearly $330,000 to support Democratic Governor Jim Doyle's reelection.
The group made independent expenditures in the open 17th Assembly District Democratic primary in Milwaukee.
The group made independent expenditures to support Democratic candidate Tom Barrett in his unsuccessful effort to defeat Republican Governor Scott Walker in a June 5 recall election. Walker, the lieutenant governor and four GOP Senate seats faced recall challenges because of the 2011 passage of the governor's plan to restrict public employee collective bargaining rights.
