Senator Darling was first elected to the the Assembly in a May 1990 special election and to the Senate in 1992. She was unopposed in the primary and faced Democratic opposition in the general election. Milwaukee Police Assocation PAC ($44), NRA Political Victory Fund ($491) and Wisconsin Right to Life PAC ($744) made independent expenditures favoring Senator Darling. Advancing Wisconsin ($39,630), Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin ($654) and Planned Parenthood Votes ($476) made independent expenditures supporting her opponent.
