Senator Petrowski was first elected to the Assembly in 1998 and to the Senate in a June 2012 recall election. Recall elections were held in four Senate districts in 2012. The incumbent in Senate District 29, Pam Galloway, resigned before the recall election so then-Represenative Jerry Petrowski of Assembly District 86 ran in her place. There was no Republican primary and he faced Democratic opposition in the recall election. Corn PAC ($1,104), GOPAC Wisconsin ($14,789), National Rifle Assocation of America ($513), NRA Political Victory Fund ($381), Republican State Leadership Committee Inc. ($112,199) and Wisconsin Right to Life PAC ($1,058) made independent expenditures favoring Senator Petrowski. DLCC Wisconsin PAC ($10,134), Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin Political Fund ($1,861), Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin Inc. ($10,006), We Are Wisconsin Political Fund ($47,835), Wisconsin Education Association Council ($2,327) and Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters PAC ($809) made independent expenditures supporting his opponent. Center for Union Facts, Club for Growth Wisconsin and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce spent undisclosed amounts on "issue ads" supporting Senator Petrowski. Greater Wisconsin Committee spent undisclosed amounts on "issue ads" in opposition. |
