Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) -- 2023 Assembly Bill 605/Senate Bill 561. This bill seeks to protect voter’s rights through a system of AVR where driver's license or identification card applicants may choose to “opt out” and not have their information shared with the Elections Commission.

Facilitate Voter Registration for Those Who Have Voting Rights Restored Following a Felony Conviction – 2023 Assembly Bill 582/Senate Bill 622. Each year thousands of Wisconsinites rejoin society after being incarcerated. These citizens are expected to participate fully in our society after their release. An important part of this process is regaining the right to vote in our elections. This bill seeks to make the voting registration process easier for those who have had their right to vote restored. This bill requires that the DOC, in addition to the date the person becomes eligible to vote, provide a voter registration form, information about the eligibility to vote, a written explanation of how to vote, whether that be in-person or by mail, as well as information about the current election cycle.

End Prison Gerrymandering -- 2023 Assembly Bill 595. Prison gerrymandering is when inmates are counted, for purposes of the Census, as living in the community where the jail or prison is located (largely rural) – and not as a member of the community where they’re from (largely urban) -- distorting the population and representation of those districts. The voting power of everyone living outside of the prison-hosting communities are unfairly affected. This problem affects both rural and urban communities.

Establish jail-based voting -- 2023 Assembly Bill 597. We need a plan to register qualified electors who are detained in jail and to allow the electors to vote while detained.
