This political action committee (PAC) is sponsored by the suburban Milwaukee based progressive advocacy organization of the same name. The PAC made its first independent expenditures in a Wisconsin state election on behalf of Democratic candidate for governor Tom Barrett, who unsuccessfully challenged Republican Gov. Scott Walker in a June 2022 recall election, a rematch of their 2010 contest.
Early in January it reported spending just over $500 for printing costs to support Dane County Circuit Court Judge Susan Crawford for a vacant Wisconsin State Supreme Court seat in the spring 2025 election.
Crawford faced former Republican Wisconsin State Attorney General and Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Brad Schimel in the in the April 1st election. Although the court is officially nonpartisan, Crawford was supported by the state Democratic party and Schimel by the GOP. At the time of the election, liberals enjoyed a 4-3 advantage on the court. As the retiring justice belonged to that majority, the election of Schimel would have given control back to conservatives. Crawford won the election, meaning liberals keep control of the court.
Thirteen days remaining until the election, Grassroots North Shore reported spending about $835 for brochures split evenly between the court and Wisconsin State Superintendent of Public Instruction races. The group supported the incumbent, Jill Underly, against educational consultant and former charter school lobbyist Brittany Kinser in the latter contest. Like the supreme court, this is an officially nonpartisan race but Underly was backed by Democrats and Kinser Republican by Repblicans.
In July, the group reported it had spent another $88 for printing costs between the two races.
