Supreme Court Election Reform

A Special Message from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign
Of the many factors that led to the passage of the Impartial Justice bill, none was more important than stamina. Our latest Big Money Blog expounds on that theme.
Yesterday’s historic victory was the culmination of a 10-year-long fight. We know that many of you telephoned, e-mailed and personally met with your state senators and representatives to urge them to support this fundamental reform of Wisconsin Supreme Court elections. And we know many of you did these things over and over again, year after year. There must have been times when your efforts seemed fruitless. Such thoughts crossed our minds too.
Now you know your efforts paid off!
The great Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi once said: "First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win."
For 10 years, our pleas for Supreme Court election reform were ignored, ridiculed and fought tooth and nail. Yesterday we won. And all of us at the Democracy Campaign want you to know how much we appreciate everything that so many of you did to make what happened yesterday possible.
