Groups call for public hearings on reform
Twenty citizen groups including the Democracy Campaign joined together in signing a letter that was delivered to legislative leaders this morning calling on them to hold public hearings this summer to afford the public an opportunity to give them feedback on Wisconsin’s chronically ill election system and to set the stage for a special session on reform that the Legislature should hold before the year is out.
Add your voice to ours by contacting Senate leader Mark Miller and Assembly leader Jeff Fitzgerald to urge them to move forward with hearings and then follow up with action on at least the five modest reforms the 20 groups suggested in today’s letter.
Three things that don’t mix
In a brilliant televised commentary, legendary journalist Bill Moyers said there are three things that should never be mixed: money, secrecy and democracy.
Amen to that.
