WDC testifies against anti-disclosure legislation
Democracy Campaign director Mike McCabe testified this morning against a bill sponsored by the Senate’s assistant majority leader that would radically limit the public’s ability to see the financial interests of contributors to Wisconsin politicians. Mike pointed out that the bill not only is an extreme attack on the public’s right to know, but also would hinder law enforcement and make illegal activity easier by making investigations into money laundering difficult if not impossible.
CHANGE OF TIME for Oct. 8 rally
Next Tuesday’s Money Out, Voters In rally will start at 12 noon. It was originally scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Now that a permit for the event has been obtained, an exact location has been established. The rally will be held on the front steps of the west entrance to the Capitol. That’s the State Street side of the building. Hope you can join us!
Partisan redistricting deserves blame for government shutdown
Those most responsible for the government shutdown are the least likely to lose in the next election. That’s why this thing could drag on for awhile. We are not the only ones to notice that responsibility for the shutdown is inversely proportional to the likelihood of losing the next election. Thank partisan gerrymandering for this travesty.
