Attorney General Schimel was first elected Waukesha County District Attorney in 2006 and to his current post in 2014. He was unopposed in the primary and faced Democratic and Independent opposition in the general election. Volunteers for Agriculture ($5,067) and Wisconsin Right to Life PAC ($155) made independent expenditures favoring Schimel. Committee for Justice & Fairness - Wisconsin ($783,812), Fair Wisconsin Inc. ($8,327), We Are Wisconsin Political Fund ($129,994) and Workers' Voice ($81,450) supported his opponent. Rule of Law Project (estimated $185,000) and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (estimated $1.5 million) spent undisclosed sums on "issue ads" supporting Schimel. Greater Wisconsin Committee (estimated $1.2 million) spent undisclosed sums in opposition. |
