Senator Shilling was first elected to the Assembly in 2000 and to the Senate in an August 2011 recall election. She won a two-way primary and faced Republican and Independent opposition in the general election. Her Republican challenger was the incumbent she had defeated in the 2011 recall election. Working America Coalition ($630) made independent expenditures favoring Senator Shilling. NRA Political Victory Fund - Federal PAC ($1,230), Wisconsin Family Action Inc. - 1.91 Account ($27) and Wisconsin Right to Life PAC ($1,160) supported his opponent. Americans for Prosperity (estimated $35,000) and Republican State Leadership Committee (estimated $215,000) spent undisclosed sums on "issue ads" supporting Senator Shilling's opponent. |
